2020 GMC Acadia: Specs, Features & Trim Comparison
The GMC Acadia was the manufacturer's initial entry-level crossover and the first FWD passenger vehicle from GMC. While it's been a solid and trustworthy SUV, GMC needed to update the Acadia to compete with the brand new rivals that have been appearing like ants at a picnic. Will the updates be enough to compete in the hotly contested Sport Utility Vehicle market? While not all of the details are available on the 2020 GMC Acadia, it appears like it will indeed be a strong challenger.
The all-new Acadia is constructed on the same platform and is a mechanical twin to the brand-new Chevy Blazer. That means that they both share the 2.5L 4cyl. and the 3.6L V6 power plants mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. While some of the official numbers are not yet published, it is anticipated that both engines will be very comparable in power and fuel efficiency. What's fascinating is that the Acadia will feature an available 3rd engine that's currently not available on its mechanical twin. A new 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder will be standard equipment on the SLT and Acadia Denali. This brand-new turbo 4cyl is expected to produce 237hp, mixing both power and fuel efficiency.
While the Blazer and Acadia may be mechanical twins, that is where the similarities end. Whereas the Blazer is created to be stylish, the 2020 GMC Acadia is purpose-built to offer a premium driving experience. The updated, bolder design includes new LED headlamps and taillights with unique C-shaped lighting while available 20-inch wheels and optional warmed, power-adjustable, power-folding mirrors complete the spectacular exterior upgrade. There is also a brand new, off-road performance version, the very first GMC Acadia AT4. Inside you will discover 3 rows of seating with the option of 6 or 7 passengers, genuine wood accents, and Smart Slide performance in the 2nd row seats. Pleasant and stylish, the attention to detail is apparent in the all-new GMC Acadia.
The all-new GMC Acadia features an 8-inch touchscreen, an available 6-inch color HUD, optional Rear Camera Mirror and Active Noise Cancellation. If safety innovation is what you need, there are 2 tiers of the Driver Alert Package. The Driver Alert Package features Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Rear Park Assist. Opt for the Driver Alert Package II and you'll get Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning as part of the bundle. The brand-new GMC Acadia was designed to keep you safe in a crash, but also to help you avoid one in the first place.
